Being that during a hurricane, homes can be easily damaged or even destroyed by high winds and high waves as well as debris possibly breaking windows and doors, I was fearful that I was not fully prepared for Hurricane Joaquin and on high alert.

Thus, I thought this might be the perfect time to refresh how exactly to prepare for a hurricane and tropical storm.  When your local

With the extremely high heat index temps that we have been graced with lately, it is very easy for the humidity levels in your home to also increase.

During summer months the Hampton Road climate can lead to a lot of moisture in your home, which can cause damaging mildew. To control this moisture, you should think about getting a dehumidifier, which helps to remove unwanted humidity.  How your home deals with humidity depends heavily on the design and construction; a building that is more energy-efficient and airtight will have a higher chance of increased humidity problems.  This happens because the tighter your house is, the less air is exchanged.

When this becomes an issue is when you are trying to cool your house.  The air conditioning can

Did you know that staging your home when getting ready to sell can actually increase your sale price?  Staging helps boost a home’s perceived value! On average, sellers receive $2 in increased sale price for every $1 they put into staging a home.  According to The International Association of Home Staging Professionals, 95% of staged homes sell on average in 11 days or less and for 17% above the asking price compared to those not staged, in a similar market.

Proper staging can help a potential buyer visualize your home as “move-in ready” and facilitate in not only helping you sell your home for a higher price but help you to sell your home quicker.  It assists in allowing the buyer feel like they could drop their bags and move right in.
